Giving Tuesday is one of the two biggest fundraising days of the year for Welcome Baby USA, a small nonprofit that provides low-income mothers with care packages of infant necessities like a baby carrier, diapers, clothing, and a thermometer. Apple released a video, which garnered more than 4.1 million views on YouTube, in September. It’s essentially an entertaining way to deliver a report that shows Apple’s progress toward its commitment to be carbon-neutral by 2030. The video created a lot of discussion on social platforms, like LinkedIn, about how brands and organizations can and should think about annual reports (and program reports). It’s heralded as a great creative example of more than just a PDF report with charts, big numbers and a lot of text. Yes, there is a PDF of Apple’s report, but it’s fair to say that it’s neither as memorable nor as digestible as the video version. More

Giving Tuesday presents a unique challenge this year. Donor participation numbers are falling. According to the Fundraising Effectiveness Project, new donors gave 13.7% less from 2022. At the same time, donor retention rates fell to 42.6%, the lowest on record. How do nonprofits navigate falling donor retention rates and falling first-time donor participation with Giving Tuesday approaching? More

Giving Tuesday is anticipated to have raised over $3 billion in 2021. Unfortunately, the majority of those donors will never make another gift to those organizations. Most importantly: 63% of Giving Tuesday donors will never make another gift to your organization. More
